Duo Merté

In March of 2024, Duo Merté premiered the group with “Your Voice Matters” at Phillips Exeter Academy. The inspiration for the program was women composers, containing the following pieces:

Duo Merté built this program with the goal of highlighting music written by women, in order to
bring their works and new sounds into the forefront of performance. From old folk lullabies to the
blues, this program gives a well rounded view of what classical women composers have
created. It showcases mostly living and/or American composers.

Laura Grube and Angelique Scully met at Ithaca College, Laura received her Masters in Violin Performance from Ithaca College, and a Bachelors of Music in Music Education and Violin Performance from West Virginia University. Angelique received a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance from Ithaca College, and recently completed her Masters in Piano Performance from University of Colorado Boulder. She will start a new position as a dance pianist at Interlochen Arts Academy, while Laura is currently teaching orchestra and chamber music at Phillips Exeter Academy and will be starting a new position in West Virginia.

Duo Merté strives to create fresh, exciting programs focusing on underrepresented artists, integrating different art forms into performances, commissioning composers to collaborate with our ideas and more. We are excited to travel around the country and beyond, creating music, art, and sharing how every voice matters.
